A backoffice for your charging point. How does it work? Smart charging points are connected to the internet and thereby also to a backoffice. The charging point communicates via OCPP1.6 or OCPP2.0 with the backoffice.
What is a Backoffice?
A backoffice is an online portal where you can manage your charging point via an app or web browser. Here you can see what the charger is consuming and configure it to charge faster or slower at certain times when electricity is cheaper.
But that's far from everything:
- The charging point is automatically updated with improved software
- When problems occur, the charging point first tries to solve them itself
- There are seas of extra functionalities available with a smart charging point
This is so useful that in the UK it's actually mandatory to buy a smart charger - "dumb" charging points are not allowed!
Private (Residential) Use
A backoffice for private use is convenient for having online insight. You also automatically receive the latest software and problems can be solved automatically or remotely.
Volt Time offers the "Home Private" backoffice package for this purpose.
Business Use
If you're allowed to drive a company car and want to charge at home, you can use a backoffice to automatically settle the electricity costs of charging sessions. An invoice is automatically created. This is ideal because you never have to read the meter again; you simply tap your charging pass on the charging point and the rest is handled automatically.
Volt Time offers the "Home Business" backoffice package for this purpose.
For charging points on business premises, backoffices are virtually essential:
- Give charging passes to colleagues to charge at company expense
- Let passers-by charge with their card for free or for a fee (you set the price)
- Set up Smart Charging to distribute power between multiple charging points
Volt Time offers the "Business Private" backoffice package for this purpose.
CPO (Charge Point Operators)
CPOs, or Charge Point Operators, manage large numbers of charging points and charging cards simultaneously. This is also useful if you have many employees, each with their own charging pass and/or home charging point.
You can also choose to make charging points publicly available. Your charging points will then become visible on virtually every charging point map, such as Google Maps, oplaadpalen.nl and Chargemap.com. They will also be visible in the many apps people use to find charging points.
Volt Time offers the "Charge Point Operator" backoffice package for this purpose.
Charging Cards
If you want to charge on the go, you usually need a charging card; this is usually also the payment method. A personal charging card is recommended for every electric driver. It's also useful if you have employees with a company car.
Volt Time offers charging cards that work throughout Europe!
